My Beliefs in a Nutshell
I believe that Jesus Christ was, and is, the Savior of the World. However, I have beliefs
that differ with the beliefs of most, if not all, of the other denominations of Christianity. I think for myself, and I will
write my basic beliefs here. I hope you enjoy. As a friend of mine named Fred once said: “the ten commandments were
the rules that GOD set and the rest are things added in by man over thousands of years.” Whereas I do believe that the other
things in the Bible may be good insight on to how to act like a good Jew (when reading the Old Testament) or Christian (when
reading both Testaments), I mostly agree with him. The only things in the Bible that were truly given by God were the Ten
Commandments. Some may argue that what Jesus said was also truly given by God, but man wrote the Gospel years to decades
after Jesus’ death. Man is not perfect, and therefore his memory is not perfect. Therefore, these things that Jesus supposedly
said, although they may be close to what He said, are most likely not exactly what He said. But the big facts, like Jesus
dying and rising from the dead, are most likely true. These facts are so big that it would be hard to not remember them correctly,
even though the details of what He said as dying and after rising may be slightly flawed due to the imperfections of the human
memory. The reason why the Ten Commandments are as they were given by God, however, is because God wrote them on rock and
gave them to Moses already written. Therefore, Moses could not have made flaws in the transcribing of the Ten Commandments. Many
people would argue that what I have just said is false. “The Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit, and therefore is a hundred
percent correct,” they would say. And I would say back, “Yes, it may be true that the Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit.
However, it was written by man. There is a huge difference between inspiration and writing. The Beatles may have inspired
the music of many other bands, such as The Monkees, but did they write their music? No. It was up to The Monkees to write
the music as they thought it should be written. And so, it was up to man to write the Bible as he thought it should be written.
And although it was inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit did not write it. Man did. And man is not perfect, allowing
for imperfections in what he writes, such as The Bible.” Not only that, but also the times of the New Testament may have
played an influence on what was written in it. The early Christians were being persecuted for many of those years, and rather
than fighting back, they tried to convert the Romans to Christianity via the Bible. So therefore, the Bible was also used
as a propaganda tool. And when you are trying to get a certain group of people to agree with you, you will most likely distort
the facts to make them look better in your favor. Thus, it is very likely that the New Testament is flawed due not only to
the imperfections of man and his memory, but also due to the want to convert the Romans possibly conflicting with the want
to tell the stories exactly as they happened. Although I have said that the Ten Commandments are the only part that is
100% true in the Bible, I also believe in the basic ideas of the stories in the Bible. I do not believe that the stories
as they are in the Bible are as they occurred 100% correctly. However, I do believe that it is true that Jesus died for our
sins, Moses led the Jews out of Egypt, Noah saved mankind and animalkind by putting his family and two of each animal on an
Arc during a great flood, and the basic ideas of the other stories as well. I cannot say that I believe that the stories
were written in the Bible exactly as they happened, however I can say that they were written in the Bible and that the basic
ideas of the stories are correct, as it is hard to get a basic idea of a story wrong, but it is easy to get the details incorrect. However,
the little things that I have talked about thus far are the things that matter least when it comes down to the point of our
life here on Earth. The point of your life on Earth is to do what God asks for you. The point of living on Earth is to prepare
you for Heaven or Hell, depending on which one you choose. You may now be thinking “which one I choose? Well, I obviously
choose Heaven!!!!” Although you may choose it in words, choosing it in words is not good enough. You need to choose it in
not only what you say, but also how you act, and how you hold true to what you say. Many of the fundamental denominations
of Christianity think that the one and only way to get to Heaven is through Jesus Christ, the Savior. This is true, in a
way. Jesus Christ died for us. But, He did not die for only the Christians. I know, the New Testament says that you must
believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior to go to Heaven. However, as I have explained earlier, although the Bible was inspired
by the Holy Spirit, it was written by imperfect man and therefore has imperfections. So, it is up to us to believe what
we believe on how to get to Heaven, and to follow our beliefs and hope for the best. I am going to tell you what I believe,
but I am not going to force it on you. I believe that there are infinite paths to Heaven. However, there are also infinite
paths to Hell. Although there are infinite paths to Heaven and infinite paths to Hell, each path to Heaven has something
in common and same with each path to Hell. The paths to Heaven all have the following in common: a good person who does what
he or she can to help others and recognizes when he or she does wrong, asks for forgiveness, and tries to change his or her
wrong ways. The thing that the paths to Hell all have in common is as follows: a bad person who either does not recognize
that he or she is doing wrong or recognizes when he or she does wrong but still continues to do wrong, all of this whether
or not he or she asks for forgiveness and/or hurts others. What you have just read are my beliefs in a nutshell. I hope
you take them into consideration, but I am in no way trying to force them on you. Until next time, peace and God bless.
